Balay Kreative is our community-led vision for a future Filipino American Arts & Culture Center that involves granting money to Filipinx artists, studio space, popup programming, a mid-size events space, and technical assistance to artists looking to grow their practice. Balay Kreative hopes to wholly serve our evolving community in a way that is rooted in our history, conscious of the present, and reflective of what our future can be, as well as being rooted in trauma-informed systems work that can help our community heal through the arts.

In 2 short years, we launched the only Filipinx arts grant program that awarded 25 individual artists. Some of the stand out projects include but are not limited to, Bayani Art’s Lapu-Lapu & Gabriella children's books, Sammay Dizon’s Hinga, Paolo and Mike’s TNT Tricycle Project.

In addition to granting out funds, we also focus on the professional development and growing the financial sustainability of the arts community through our Kreative Growth: Masterclass Series. Balay Kreative also works with businesses, real estate developers, and landlords to commission mural art throughout San Francisco. In 2021 we unveiled our Balay Kreative Artist Studios complete with a streaming hub for content creators.

Balay Kreative is supported by a distinguished cast of funders from the The National Endowment for the Arts, San Francisco Arts Commission, Grants for the Arts, Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development, Zellerbach Foundation, Phyllis Wattis Foundation, and the CA Arts Council.
